FX Week: Growing opportunities in North America for currency managers

James Wood-Collins, CEO of Record Currency Management (Record), comments on the growing opportunities for currency managers in North America, which has long been a key market for Record. He highlights that the Canadian market has a high degree of awareness of currency risks, and US market asset allocation is moving towards more internationally exposed portfolios. Furthermore, Record is now working with a number of UK investment management companies to manage currency risks in special asset classes including private assets and are now keen to explore the possibility of replicating this model in the US. Record are also keen to further understand defined contribution pension structures in the US and the potential opportunities these present.

In response to these potential opportunities, Record has recently announced its increased presence in North America, strengthening its team of currency specialists in New York from one to four.
