You may be placed in a particular department or spend time in more than one department.

Omid Pakseresht, Bursary Holder 2011: "Having just spent the summer at Record, I feel extremely grateful to be one of the bursary holders.
As a mathematics student going into my third year, my internship was mainly focused on quantitative research - something that allowed me to learn various new mathematical concepts and their practical use within a financial context. Given my background, this is similar to what I am likely to be involved in when I graduate. However, Record is also open to letting bursary holders gain experience in different areas and there is an effort to familiarise the interns with other parts of the company.
The project that I was involved in, and the theories and models used, were both conceptually and technically challenging. The whole experience was engaging and, most importantly, enjoyable. My mentor was extremely supportive throughout the internship and this was one of the biggest factors in settling into my job as an intern smoothly. The interest in the work of the interns is not limited to their respective mentors as everyone at Record is happy to discuss and share ideas. This was exemplified by the opportunity given to everyone to present one of their projects to the directors at the end of the internship.
The financial support that the bursary provides has been very helpful and made a great difference. It has enabled me to under take my degree with ease of mind and concentrate fully on my studies. It has also given me the opportunity to travel more and take part in extracurricular activities that otherwise might not have been possible.
As well as the financial advantages of the bursary and the experience gained from the internship, the opportunity to work at Record once I graduate is one that I am very much looking forward to".
